San Diego indie band The Donkeys on Dead Ocean Records opened up last night’s live music at the venerable Hi-Tone in midtown Memphis, and their style exhibited a rootsy, soul-influenced vibe that sounded more Memphis than California. Altogether, an impressive set of tuneful music.
The hot weather came early, but YoLo has the coolest thing to hit Memphis in years-authentic Italian gelato. They also have great frozen yogurt made from local ingredients, locally-sourced toppings, and, at the Midtown location, awesome bakery items from LadyBugg Bakery. Pay them a visit and beat the heat! And if you’re going to Bonnaroo, they’ll be there with a mobile store.
