Saturday was supposed to be a big day of outdoor festivals in Memphis, but it got off to a bad start with a continuous steady rain, and the Soulsville Street Festival at the Stax Museum decided to postpone their event until Sunday. Such a solution wasn’t possible for Bristerfest, a non-profit music festival at the Levitt Shell in Overton Park, because this festival was already scheduled to run both days, and the proceeds were to benefit GrowMemphis, an organization that promotes community gardens.
So the organizers of Bristerfest took the approach that the show had to go on, rain or no rain, and despite some very brief heavy downpours, most of the afternoon remained dry, although dark and overcast. Some great local and regional musicians performed, and some local artists and vendors were present selling their latest works.
