I had seen an Apple store, but never until yesterday at Lenox Square Mall had I seen a Microsoft store. Breakfast at Homegrown GA

On Christmas Eve, my iPhone’s Yelp app led me to a new breakfast restaurant called Homegrown GA in the Reynoldstown neighborhood. I called to confirm that they were indeed open, and when I arrived, I was thrilled to find that there was a garden behind the restaurant that grows some of the food and spices for the restaurant. Homegrown proved to be a warm and welcoming restaurant with good breakfast and reasonable prices. A room in back houses a small thrift store.

Shiekh: Memphis’ new sneaker and hip-hop boutique

When I entered Southland Mall to do some Christmas shopping, I was greeted by Shiekh, a new upscale hip-hop and sneaker shop in Memphis. They have the latest clothing lines for men and women and will cheerfully accept your event flyers and mixtapes. If you’re in Memphis, pay them a visit.

Devin Crutcher and Band Live at E’oj

My homeboy Mike Mosby plays drums for Devin Crutcher, and on Saturday night he told me to come down to a new restaurant called E’oj at Sycamore View and I-40. I did, and it was literally standing room only, but the music was great and it was a lot of fun.
