A Veteran Memphis Drummer Celebrates His Birthday With A Concert

Memphis drummer Danny Peterson has played with any number of bands in both gospel and rhythm and blues music. Starting out with quartets like the Brown Singers, he ended up playing for a number of artists, from the Bar-Kays to Mel Waiters, Marvin Sease and Larry Dodson. So how does such an accomplished Memphis drummer celebrate his birthday? By throwing a huge concert party.

On November 24, 2024, at K3 Studio Cafe in South Memphis, a number of musicians and singers came out to celebrate Danny’s birthday with him. With it being his special day, he did not perform, but he acted as master of ceremonies, and the small space was filled to overflowing. By the way, K3 is a great place to catch young Memphis musicians, and it is also a working restaurant. Be sure to try some of their desserts if you decide to visit.
