Over the last several years, Memphis has gone from having a handful of coffee options to a bewildering array of coffee choices all over the metropolitan area, with new ones opening on a regular basis. Everyone has their particular favorites, but coffee is basically coffee. Right?
However, the opening of Memphis’s franchise of Just Love Coffee is welcome, and provides our city with something a little different. For one thing, despite being part of a Murfreesboro-based chain, this Memphis coffee house has chosen to locate in Overton Square, a place where access to coffee has been severely lacking. Furthermore, the roomy space is lovingly appointed with comfortable seating inside and out, making it a welcome place to chill and unwind. Like all coffee bars, Just Love offers a menu of other iced and frozen coffee drinks. I chose a frozen mocha on an extremely hot Saturday afternoon, and was quite pleased with it. But they also offer both savory and sweet baked goods, including breakfast sandwiches, brownies and cookies. Also worth noting is Just Love’s great assortment of whole bean, ground and Keurig-compatible coffees to take home. Coffees from Africa, Central America and South America are available, and especially interesting are the $2.50 pouches of ground coffee, which make exactly one 10-cup pot, allowing a customer to try three or more varieties at a reasonable price.
While I have yet to try the food and dessert items, Just Love Coffee Cafe will be a welcome part of my routine when in Midtown Memphis. It is definitely worth a visit. You’ll love it!
