Saturday was a busy day in Memphis. In addition to Africa in April, Earth Day, the Hot Wing Festival and the Band Battle at Halle Stadium, the classic Corvettes were on Beale Street all day. 4/21/12

The Southern Hot Wing Festival was also Saturday April 21 in downtown Memphis along the Wolf River Harbor at Jefferson Davis Park. By the time I got down there, the sun had come out and the weather seemed much warmer. There were 50 or so booths manned by competitive hot wing teams, and three stages of live music.

Saturday morning April 21 I went out to the Vollentine Evergreen Art Walk in North Memphis, but the weather was grey and extremely cold. Although there was food, live music, kids activities and attractive artwork, it was just too wintery to enjoy much.

Rain disrupted the first day of Africa in April in downtown Memphis on Friday April 20, but there was still a small crowd in Handy Park listening to the usual blues band.

The former Sole location in the Westin Hotel in downtown Memphis has become Bleu Restaurant and Lounge, an upscale bar and restaurant directly across from the Fed Ex Forum that often features live jazz. Last Thursday, April 19, they celebrated the opening of their new outdoor patio with live music and free food and drink. #MemphisRising
