Walking Uptown on Magazine Street in New Orleans
Magazine Street in Uptown New Orleans was not named for a publication of any kind, but rather for the magazins or warehouses that were used to store goods shipped down the Mississippi River in early New Orleans. Today the street is four miles of unique and trendy shops, restaurants, coffee bars and gelato stands. Different from the French Quarter yet unmistakably New Orleans, it is a shopper’s paradise not to be missed. 7/5/12
