The Booker T. Washington High School T-Connection Band from Tulsa, Oklahoma is a favorite in the Grambling State University Homecoming Parade each year. They are usually one of the largest bands in the parade.
Neighborhood drill teams and drum squads are common in African-American communities throughout the United States, but entire community-based bands are quite rare indeed. One of the few is the Exo’s Drill Team and Band from Alexandria, Louisiana, who are frequently seen in the Grambling Homecoming Parade each year.
The Peppermints are a drill team and drum squad from Shreveport, Louisiana that since 1973 has been providing a wholesome recreational opportunity for young people in the Shreveport community. They are frequent participants in the Grambling Homecoming Parade.
