On the last day of SUMC, I had a business lunch meeting with Smurf, AKA Mr. Colli Park at Strip, the elegant steakhouse in Atlantic Station, which is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Atlanta.
Babs is a jewel of a brunch cafe, tucked away on Jupiter Street in Midtown Atlanta and easy to miss. But you shouldn’t miss it, because the breakfast is outstanding, and the coffee, a brand called Torrie from Italy, is truly amazing.

I was headed up Marietta Street looking for a coffee bar when I noticed this place called Urban Grind. So I stopped in for a latte, and they were getting ready for a spoken word event. I would have stayed for it if I didn’t need to get back to the Park Tavern for the Southeast Urban Music Conference Showcases.
After a day of promoting, I decided to have dinner at Max’s Coal Oven Pizza in the new little hip district on Marietta Street Northwest near the Aquarium and Georgia Dome. It’s a nice little area, and the food at Max’s was quite good.
A fire at an industrial site in Morrow spread to paper and roofing material, and soon could be seen all over Clayton County, June 22, 2011

Dundee, Mississippi looks a little bigger than the towns above it, and it still has an open elementary school. But this beautiful church, last used as a Masonic lodge apparently, has been allowed to fall into ruins.
