I had known about Public Enemy and LL Cool J being on the Doritos stage lineup, but I didn’t know about
Ice Cube being on it until I was in the line to try to get admitted to the event. Cube was yet another favorite rapper of my younger years (the early 1990’s to be exact), and I was thrilled to see him in person for the first time. Like Public Enemy, he performed mostly songs from his classic albums that everyone in the crowd knew, but he also did a handful of more recent songs taken from 2010’s “I Am The West” and the forthcoming “Everythang’s Corrupt.” He also led the crowd in a touching tribute to deceased rapper
Nate Dogg.
