Back on Rainey Street: Reeperbahn Ran Out of Burgers, and More

Every year at SXSW, the Reeperbahn Festival sponsors a night of free hamburgers called Reeperbahn Burgers. Traditionally this has been at Downtown Burgers, the superb local burger stand across the street from the Austin Convention Center, but this year Downtown Burgers remained closed the entire week of SXSW, so the Reeperbahn event was held at the German Haus at Icenhauer’s on Rainey Street. Unfortunately, by the time I walked there from the neighborhood around the Fader Fort, they were completely out of burgers! I walked up and down Rainey Street, and finally heard a band I liked the sound of at Bar 96.
