The Wizard Of Oz the forced sojourn away from New Orleans convinced them that “there’s no place like home.” With that in mind, their new, attractive breakfast restaurant was christened The Ruby Slipper Cafe. Seven years and two more locations later, The Ruby Slipper is well on its way to becoming a New Orleans institution in its own right. Indeed, lines at the CBD location on Magazine can get truly ridiculous. Fortunately, there’s now a third location in the Bywater, but breakfast is an important meal in New Orleans, and you can expect a wait at any of the three Ruby Slippers. But the food is well worth it. It’s nothing fancy…standard omelettes, bacon, eggs, pancakes, coffee, but all done to perfection. Keep in mind that the three locations all have different hours (the original location is closed on Mondays) so check the hours of the location you’re headed to before you go.
