Wild Bill’s is the quintessential Memphis juke, a North Memphis neighborhood institution. The red walls are covered with old photos and clippings, beer is served in 40-ounce bottles, and the Hollywood All-Stars provide just the right mood with a mix of blues and soul. The room-length tables guarantee you’ll meet new friends, and things don’t get started here until they’ve just about ended everywhere else (the band plays from 10 PM-3 AM). If you’re seeking an authentic Memphis experience, bypass Beale Street and come to Wild Bill’s.

My young drummer friend Otis Logan has a band called 4 Soul, and last Tuesday, February 7, they had a jam session at Juicy Jim’s on the Highland strip near the University of Memphis. Local rap artist Snipes performed songs from his recent mixtape, and everyone had a lot of fun.

Snipes’ Friday night performance at Opinions in Memphis also featured Jason the Hater and a new hip-hop duo called One Hundred.

Friday night, February 3, I went over to the new Opinions Restaurant and Lounge on Summer Avenue at I-240 to check out a live show from my homie Snipes of Overwater Entertainment with his live band Nu Sessions.
