@ALKaponeMemphis visits the Lamar Terrace Picnic in Overton Park, 5/12/12. The rain couldn’t dampen the spirit, and although the Terrace was torn down, the love and community still stands tall.
In Memphis, you can come upon block parties and special events randomly if you drive through the neighborhoods. This one in Orange Mound was sponsored by Orange Mound Outreach Ministries and featured barbecue and performances from gospel rappers. No soon had the musicians set up the drumset and other instruments, however, than the rain came down in earnest. Still, I had fun.

Doing the wobble on Beale Street, Memphis, 5/6/12
Wiz Kalifa had the final performance at the Beale Street Music Festival this year, and he brought Juicy J onto the stage with him to do a couple of songs, including the classic Memphis rap anthem “Slob On My Knob.” As they performed, lightning and thunder began to approach the festival from across the river.
