While driving from Memphis to Austin last week on Sunday for South By Southwest, I decided to stop at Hopdoddy Burger Bar in Dallas for dinner, since I had eaten at their South Austin location last year. The somewhat bizarre name comes from the restaurant’s twin loves- “hop” for beer, and “doddy” a Scottish slang for cows. The burgers are made from organic, hormone-free beef, the fries are cut in-house daily, the buns are freshly baked, and there is an extensive craft beer menu. Altogether a fun, delicious and reasonably-priced place to enjoy burgers-one of the truly great things about Texas.
