The Stooges Brass Band perform at their weekly Thursday night gig at the Hi-Ho Lounge on St. Claude Avenue in New Orleans, 7/5/12

After dinner, everyone headed their separate ways. I walked up Canal Street toward Bourbon, thinking I would run back into the TBC Brass Band on the corner, but the Lucky Dog hotdog vendor said they had been there earlier and left. I soon heard the sounds of another brass band coming from the downtown side of Canal, but it proved to be a band coming outside from a wedding reception, so I walked down Bourbon all the way into the Marigny, but there was little going on there either.

Walking around the Faubourg Marigny on a Friday morning

I had seen a 24-hour restaurant called La Peniche when I was driving over to the Hi-Ho Lounge, so the next morning I ate breakfast there, and afterwards spent some time walking around the cool neighborhood known as Faubourg Marigny. The center of it is a street of bars, clubs and restaurants called Frenchmen Street.
