Venice Beach, at the foot of Washington Boulevard, early on Thanksgiving morning, November 24, 2011. The area was actually somewhat crowded, despite the cold, with young people trying to get up a crowd for a football game on the sand at 10 AM. “The Canal vs. The Point”, they said.

While waiting on Ventura Boulevard for a friend to meet me for lunch, I came upon these two hip-hop shops, but, unfortunately, neither was open for business. November 23, 2011.

Amoeba Records in Hollywood is said to be the largest independent record store in America, and it seems like it. It’s full of new and used CD’s and vinyl, as well as music magazines and books. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the LA area.
