Whitehaven Christmas Parade 2012

In addition to the usual car clubs, social clubs, Masonic groups and politicians, the Whitehaven Christmas Parade also featured bands, majorettes and drumlines from high schools, middle schools, elementary schools and a college.

Whitehaven Christmas Parade 2012

When the Downtown Memphis Association pulled the plug on the Memphis Christmas Parade last year, the Whitehaven Community Christmas Parade became the only Christmas parade to be held anywhere in Memphis. This year, the event attracted a record crowd, and some school bands from outside Whitehaven, including Booker T. Washington High and Manassas High. The sunny, warm weather undoubtedly contributed to the increased attendance.

Lining Up For The Whitehaven Christmas Parade, Memphis, 2011

With the Merry Christmas Memphis Parade cancelled this year by the Downtown Memphis Association for no reason they cared to share with the public, the Whitehaven Christmas Parade took on extra importance as the only Christmas parade that would be held in Memphis. People started lining the parade route early last Saturday November 19.
