Key West must be one of the few places in America where every sunset is a celebration. Every late afternoon, people gather in Mallory Square and on nearby piers and decks to watch the sunset, as well as to enjoy drinks and the musicians, jugglers and other performers who entertain the revelers. As the sun sets over nearby Sunset Key, party boats loaded with tourists and live musicians drift past the waterfront. Many will wait until the sun’s last rays have vanished behind the horizon. A similar group gathers a few blocks away on the roof of the historic La Concha Hotel, which is the tallest structure in Key West, and another great place to watch the sunset in this most Caribbean of American cities.
