Some of my friends from my Memphis State days were sponsoring a Bar Takeover at Pearl’s Oyster House on South Main Saturday, so I left the Heart of Memphis rally and headed downtown. The turnout for our event was truly amazing, with I’d say about a hundred people coming out. I enjoyed a dozen chargrilled oysters and spent some time catching up with old friends before I left to go get ready for my weekly jazz gig at Theo’s out East. Unfortunately, I later learned that Pearl’s management ended the event early and rudely asked some of our attendees to give up tables despite the fact that they had been ordering and spending money.
