Bayou DeSiard From The Waterfront Grill

For many years now, the Waterfront Grill in Monroe, Louisiana has been one of my favorite restaurants, period. Obviously, the food is the main reason, but beyond the excellent cuisine is the restaurant’s beautiful view of Bayou DeSiard, the wide body of water that runs past the campus of the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Elegant homes line the bayou’s north shore, but the heavily wooded banks create an atmosphere of remote natural beauty even though it is in the middle of the city. Fishermen, water-skiers and alligators alike all enjoy the bayou, and there’s no better place to watch them than from the restaurant’s deck while enjoying a dinner of shrimp or filet mignon. For special occasions, the Waterfront Grill also has a charter boat that goes out on the bayou.
