Overtown was the original Black neighborhood of Miami, and since 1946,
Jackson Soul Food has been serving up some of the best breakfasts anywhere. A wall of photos highlights some of the local and national celebrities that have eaten there over the years, and on a Friday morning, my cousin and I had a hard time finding a table. But if you have to wait, it’s worth it, for generous breakfasts at discount prices. I especially have to mention the homemade biscuits, which are among the best I’ve had in a restaurant. Jackson Soul Food is located at the corner of 3rd Avenue Northeast and 10th Street in the Overtown neighborhood, and is open daily from 6 AM to 2 PM, and on certain weekend nights when they have live music.
