While Jazz goes on frequently (Tuesdays and Sundays) at The Cove in Binghamton, it also has been going on every other Friday at the Westin Hotel in downtown Memphis, which, unlike the Cove, has a grand piano. On Friday, December 12, my friend Sijuwola Crawford was playing piano with the group, so I came down to check it out. The vibe can range from straight ahead to neo-soul depending on who is playing each week. Although proximity to the FedEx Forum makes parking a challenge, the lobby is comfortable and there is a decent food menu as well. Jazz occurs on alternating weeks, and runs from 6 to 9 PM.
